Abstract :
With the rapid development of energy storage technology, applying the large-scale energy storage to increase the penetration of new energy with intermittent nature has been drawing worldwide attention. Among the field of energy storage applications, the management and control strategy research is the key technology, and also plays an important role in smart grid study. In this paper, the concept of Wide-area Coordinated Control of Energy Storage System (WCCESS) is proposed. In this system, the control of energy storage, regular equipment of power grid and intermittent energy supply have been integrated and coordinated with multi control targets in different time scale. The application pattern, control strategy and coordinated optimization method of energy storage have also been introduced at full length. WCCESS system is designed in hierarchical structure while combining global control and local control skillfully, consequently reduce optimization complexity and realize multi-target quasi-optimization. The presented system can markedly improve the energy utilization efficiency and access friendliness of intermittent generators, thus has great significance in promoting the development of energy storage and intermittent clean energy.
