Abstract :
The transient voltage security and economy of power grid could be coordinated by reasonably choosing the installation locations and capacity of the static var compensator (SVC). Quantitative assessment method has been proposed to identify the voltage security weak areas and the key faults causing voltage unsafe in power system. Based on quantitative analysis, the comprehensive voltage security improve margin is put forward used to reflect the effects of SVC installation on transient voltage security of power system. The performance cost ratio is defined for optimally configuring SVC according to the largest principle of the performance cost ratio, and the installation process is described in detail. At last, an optimization configuration of SVC for improving voltage security of a regional power grid based on the method described in this paper is introduced.
