Abstract
In this paper, a design of the 3-phase, 6-stator-pole and 4-rotor-pole, 1.7 kW high speed switched reluctance motor for the supercharging application is presented. The design objectives include minimizing rotor inertial and air friction losses for rapid acceleration, reducing copper and core losses for sustained operation and heat reduction. The candidate design is then analyzed for optimal performance assessment in terms of output torque and efficiency.
