Abstract :
This paper presents a sensorless control strategy based on permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) with dual two-level inverter open winding(OW) configuration, which is different from the traditional PMSG configuration. By modulating dual inverter for each aimed vector, it can make the wind power generator work in the normal way that OW-PMSG transmits power by both inverters. In this configuration, the DC bus voltage is just half of the same capacity traditional PMSG. The model reference adaptive system (MRAS) is used to estimate the rotor position and speed to implement the vector control of OW-PMSG. The mathematical model of this configuration and sensorless control method is the aimed object in this paper. With this configuration, a three-level modulation effect is achieved. The availability of the proposed control strategy is validated by the simulation of MATLAB/Simulink based on the 2MW Open Winding PMSG wind power generation system.
