Abstract :
The performance of planar optically switched resonators integrated with optically triggered Silicon (Si) switches is described. The resonator structures are realised on 1.6mm thick Taconic substrate and operates between 3.75GHz and 5GHz (3dB level) with insertion loss as low as 1.35dB and 1.1dB when the switch is in its OFF and ON states respectively. An equivalent circuit representation of the designed structure is described and the integration of Si dice is presented. Some insertion loss and bandwidth improvements for switched resonators are reported. This work is towards a low-loss delay line for broadband phased antenna applications.
