Abstract
In this paper, large antenna array pattern synthesis problems of reduced sidelobe level (SLL) for a given HPBW and Radio frequency Interference (RFI) rejection by sector null synthesis are considered by applying a subarray technique. A recently proposed optimisation scheme by the authors initially developed for small antenna arrays is extended to optimise large antenna array problems. Simulation results are presented for a linear antenna array of 512 elements with 8 subarrays each of uniform size. It is shown that the proposed method has better optimisation performance in terms of computation time and solution quality compared to a Genetic Algorithm (GA).
