Abstract
This paper presents the design of a UHF RFID reader antenna for metallic environments. The design is based on the constructive wave phenomenon and on the use of a dipole antenna which provides a linear polarization parallel to its ground plane. In addition, the proposed antenna can be placed on metallic surfaces without impedance mismatch. The overall antenna size is 160 mm × 80 mm × 61 mm and its gain is 6.5 dBi.
