Abstract :
Experimental studies show that the leakage of electrons in the butt-ends of the line with magnetic insulation provides plasma production on the anode and this plasma can emit ions. The bombardement of the cathode by ions may cause an intensive plasma production which in its turn provides a fast crow-bar to the wall, thus making a short-current of the gap. These processes are the most intensive in the conical lines with decreasing gaps. This difficulty makes us increase the d in the end of the line, i.e. make the line nonuniform. The decisive role in the operation of conical lines is played by plasma which provides matching of the line with a load.
