  • Abstract
    Write error in Bit-Patterned-Media-Recording is a unique problem that does not exist in conventional magnetic recording. In this work we analyze the various sources of write error in BPMR based hard drives and conduct write error characterization. A position dependent write error model is proposed based on these analysis which leads to a modified binary symmetric channel model for BPMR.
