Abstract :
The digital subscriber lines with very high speed data rates are considered as a promising high-speed solution for modern metallic and hybrid access networks. Data over digital subscriber lines are transported in packet mode. In this case TDM (Time Division Multiplex) oriented stream, like structured E1, can be transmitted over IP packets. The main limiting factor for symmetric TDM transmission is upstream data throughput of asymmetric digital subscriber lines. This article introduces the basic parameters of ADSL2+/VDSL2 data link at higher layers (packet delay, packet loss). Based on gained results, a practical experiment was performed using real xDSL network and TDM over IP gateway. Measurements covered transmission loss, transmission delay, bit error rate.
