Abstract :
In the system of VoD, the P2P technology has been well proved and applied to practice. The technology of P2P based on helpers has further explored the potential of peers in the network, thus making it possible for the service of VoD and HD video implemented in a large scale. Oriented to VoD service, this thesis puts forward a novel video content delivery algorithm in P2P system based on the mechanism of helpers, which enhances the performance of whole VoD system through helper peers delivering coded content segments. The simulation experiments of the thesis prove that this algorithm effectively reduces the bandwidth consumption of VoD server, and decreases the average view delay of the users to a certain extent under the condition of large server load.
