Abstract :
This paper presents a new method for assessment of geometric importance of vertices in three-dimensional (3D) mesh, using a set of grades as assessment results of most important topological criteria. Using obtained statistical results our method forms a unique assessment criterion of the geometric iportance for all vertices of the discrete model. The geometric importance of vertices is then defined as a measure of their invariance in relation to the process of simplification. The result of the vertex extraction is a vector of geometric stability values arranged in decreasing order, whereas an each vertex position index corresponds to the value of its invariance in relation to deletion.
