Abstract
A rectangular microstrip patch antenna is designed by using substrate integrated artificial dielectric (SIAD). A periodic structure, design by hollow copper cylinders to create effective media. Relatively strong paramagnetic media is introduced by this SIAD structure. In this work effective permeability higher than effective permittivity. Characteristics impedance is also increased due to this strong paramagnetic effect. Parametric variation of this SIAD structure and its effect on antenna performance is investigated. Gain of designed antenna is increased by 95.8% and also 34% compactness is achieved by this moderated SIAD structure.
