Abstract
This paper presents a simple and accurate cavity model based on CAD design tool to investigate the effect of composite and suspended substrate on resonant resistance, feed reactance and total quality factor of a circular microstrip patch antenna (CMPA). The computed values employing the present model are compared with the previously reported experimental results and the values of commercial software (HFSS and IE3D). The proposed model shows close approximation to the experimental results and with the available software (HFSS and IE3D). This model is very useful for designing the MIC on semiconductor materials with εr ≥ 10.
