Abstract :
This article presents a novel optimization approach to constrained dynamic economic dispatch (DED) problem using the Improved Bacterial Foraging Algorithm (IBFA). The proposed methodology easily takes care of different constraints like transmission losses, ramp rate limits, generator constraints and non-smooth cost functions. To illustrate its efficiency and effectiveness, the developed BFA approach is tested with different number of generating units and comparisons are performed with those obtained from various hybrid methods.
