Abstract :
It is required that battery charger on electric vehicles, which connects to single-phase utility power source, is safe and compact. The charger has to be safe because the risk of the electric shock is greater due to high voltage of battery on the vehicle. In addition, because of space limitation in the vehicle, the charger has to be compact. Moreover, it is required that on-vehicle battery charger suppresses harmonic components in the input current and the unity input power factor is expected. The circuit which is configured by a voltage doubler rectifier connected to a half-bridge isolated DC-DC converter is able to satisfy those demands. In this paper, the circuit is controlled by use of single-phase dq-transformation. It is verified that the circuit can be applied to a battery charger by results of simulation and experiment.
