  • Abstract
The development of driver assistance systems with respect to safety-oriented and individualized driver supervision has been focused on for intelligent vehicles in recent years. In this contribution, a cognitive driving supervision modeling concept is introduced, which is based on the Situation-Operator-Modeling (SOM) approach. By interpreting the driving scene and the driver action with `Situation´ and `Operator´, the logic of interaction between the driver, the vehicle, and the environment within driving maneuvers can be formalized and realized by program-based applications to supervise the drivers´ behaviors and assistant maneuver control. Besides, the individuality of a single driver can be identified by detecting changes between typical and individual actual behaviors in the model, so that the detailed rules can be extended and modified for driver supervision. As an example, the lane changing maneuver is tested in the simulation-based experiment to verify the applicability of the modeling approach.
