Abstract :
A channel assignment model for WLAN is proposed. In unlicensed 2.4 GHz ISM band, there are only 3 non-overlapping channels for IEEE 802.11g WLAN. To make use of all available channels and reduce inter-channel interference in channel assignment, channel overlap factor is introduced in this paper, which is calculated according to the level of overlap between channels. An integer programming model, which aims at maximizing the minimal SIR, is then proposed based on channel overlap factor, and simulated annealing algorithm is applied to solve this model. Simulation results show that the proposed channel assignment model is capable of significantly increasing the minimal SIR.
