Abstract
Due to the large number of wind turbines and covering too large area in a large wind farm, wake effects among wind turbines and wind speed time delays will have a greater impact of wind farms models. Taking wind farms with doubly fed induction generator(DFIG) wind turbines as an example, wind farm model consisting of thirty 2-MW doubly fed induction generator wind turbines is built on simulation software DIgSILENT/Power Factory platform. Through the example analysis of wind farm output characteristic on different wind speed models, the results show that time delay will smooth wind farm power output and make the power change rate smaller, and thus enhance power quality at point of common coupling. Wake effects can cause the wind energy loss. The grid-connection detection of wind farms need to consider wake effects and time delays.
