Abstract :
A two-layer embedded half-split dielectric resonator antenna is proposed in this paper for wideband application. To enhance the impedance bandwidth, a small half-split cylindrical dielectric resonator is placed concentrically inside the large annular-ring half-split dielectric resonator. The effect of antenna parameters such as layer arrangement, geometrical parameters and probe length are investigated. The proposed antenna provides the impedance bandwidth of 88.25% (at resonance frequency of 7.41 GHz) from 5.55 to 12.08 GHz for reflection coefficient (S11) less than -10dB. The average gain of proposed antenna is 8.35 dB in the frequency range of 5.55 to 12.08 GHz.
