Abstract :
This paper presents a continuous wave vital signs detection radar that utilizes a heterodyne transceiver architecture with a 10 MHz intermediate frequency to remove both unwanted DC offsets in the electronic components and the so-called null-detection-points. For successful removal of the latter, it is shown that single-sideband transmission (or demodulation) must be used. Measurements verify this behaviour.
