Abstract
This paper analyze a ground-slotted 180° Hybrid design across 3 to 11 GHz. This hybrid is designed by using one substrate, which the top layer consists of microstrip patch with four ports of port 1, 2, 3 and 4. Meanwhile, at the bottom layer is a ground-slotted conducting layer with slotline to guide the signal from input to output ports. The investigation is concerning the effect of varying the angle of split section on the hybrid performance. It has been observed that to ensure good performance across desired frequency band, the split section must be designed exactly 45°. New elliptical-shaped split section has been proposed here to provide the simpler design shape, which will not affect the wideband performance of this hybrid. The simulation and analysis is performed using CST Microwave Studio software.
