Abstract
A study of the suppression of the mutual coupling between the radiating elements of a compact planar inverted-F multi-band antenna array (PIFA, henceforth) located on a finite ground plane for Multiple Inputs Multiple Output (MIMO, henceforth) systems that will be presented in this paper. The identical two PIFAs are placed seperately without making any distance. Whereas the mutual coupling suppression is achieved by maximizing the separation between those elements. The PIFA is designed to operate at GSM [880-960 MHz], UMTS [1920-2170 MHz] and PCS [1880-1950 MHz] frequencies bands for the MIMO application. Furthermore; the simulation analysis was performed using the Ansoft Simulator.
