Abstract :
The thirty papers in this special issue discuss the research challenges currently being addressed globally, in academia and industry, in the evolution to delivering the vision of power supply on chip technology, or PwrSoC. In most cases, two key target applications are considered. At one hand, there is the idea of replacing the ubiquitous low cost, but low efficiency Low Drop Out linear regulator with a fully integrated monolithic dc-dc switching converter with a similar footprint and cost, but with much higher efficiency. At the other end of the spectrum, there is the concept of monolithically integrating a complete power management system architecture with a complex system on chip.
