Abstract
Testing of three phase induction motor is vital, in order to determine its efficiency. In this paper a novel method for finding out the efficiency of a three phase induction motor using Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench (LabVIEW) is proposed. The input power is measured by measuring the input voltage, current and power factor with the help of a voltage and current transformer and the output power is measured by measuring the speed and torque with the help of a tachogenerator and dyno-drive arrangement. The outputs of the voltage and current transformer, tachogenerator and dyno-drive arrangement is given to the Data Acquisition Card (DAQ) which acquires the data for processing and then the efficiency is found out, using LabVIEW software installed in the Personal Computer (PC). Experimental results show that the proposed technique is better than the existing schemes.
