Abstract
A Flexible Pulse Skip Modulation (FPSM) buck DC-DC converter working in Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) enabling Minimum Energy Point Tracking (MEPT) is proposed in this paper. The converter creatively combines together two techniques, namely FPSM and MEPT. The former improves the efficiency of the DC-DC converter in light load condition while the latter dramatically lower the load energy consumption. The circuit is simulated in a standard 0.13μm CMOS process and the simulation results show that 1. about 56% energy will be saved when digital circuits work at MEP; 2. the output voltage ranges from 100 mV to 600 mV with a step of 50 mV; 3. the loop successfully finds the MEP at 350 mV.
