Abstract :
This paper presents a new efficient algorithm or 3-D thermal alternating-drection-implicit method. Douglas Gunn alternating-direction-implicit (DG-ADI) method is formulated into efficient ADI method with single operator and heat generation input on the right-hand side of the first procedure, resulting in a simpler and more concise update equation. The efficient ADI method is compared and validated with DG-ADI method through numerical simulation. It is found that their results are identical which confirm that both methods are equivalent. By comparing the CPU run time of both DG-ADI and efficient ADI methods, it is ascertained that high efficiency gain can be achieved for the latter.
