Abstract :
According to the particularity of the target in outer space, this paper proposes a method of space target recognition based on the target´s contour. Ensured the discriminabiltity of target feature, the relative small structures and color differences are ignored to simplify the model. A series of image preprocessing algorithms such as binary image, image corrosion, and interference areas removal are used to obtain distinct contour image. Then the SIFT algorithm is used to describe the features of the targets, accomplishing image matching and target recognition. Numerical experiments are presented to illustrate the superior performance of proposed method by dealing space images.
