Abstract :
This study is to discuss the law thaf\´moxibustion can be used for heat syndrome" for the treatment of Bell\´s palsy. We conducted an analysis of the treatment of the Bell\´s palsy patients who are identified as wind-cold syndrome and wind-heat syndrome by Heat-Sensitization Moxibustion and estimate the recovery situation of facial nerve function by FDI and Burres-Fisch score, which are the most widely used methods. We had found that all the symptoms were ameliorated obviously with statistical difference when assessed by FDI Social, Well-being Function Subscale, FDI Physical Function Subscale and B-F score (p<;0.05), but neither on the frequency of acupoint heat-sensitization phenomenon (p>0.05) nor on these scores after taking the treatment between two symptoms (p>0.05). Thus we concluded that there was not statistical difference between wind-cold syndrome and wind-heat syndrome of the Bell\´s palsy patients when compared on the frequency of heat-sensitization phenomenon and clinical efficacy which meant that "moxibustion could be used for heat syndrome" in the treatment of Bell\´s palsy and had definite therapeutic effect.
