Abstract :
In the current work, five parameters model (FPM) has been used to improve the accuracy of the I–V PV module characteristics curves. This model has been applied to characterize five PV modules of different technologies. These are Mono-crystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, triple -junction Amorphous and Thin-film (CIS). Characterization was carried out at outdoor conditions of an arid area located in Ghardaia (Algeria). Through analysis of the recorded results using RMSE (root mean square error) method, it has been found that the square error is kept to minimum. Taking into account errors of different origins and the measurement method it can be concluded that the mentioned model fits better with accuracy to characterize PV modules. The proposed method is also discussed.
