Abstract :
Stimulated Brillouin Scattering (SBS) is one kind of fiber nonlinearities represent the fundamental limiting mechanisms to the amount of data that can be transmitted on a single optic fiber. To achieve high output power and high threshold power we compensate this SBS effect using Cross Phase Modulation (XPM). XPM. is one kind of non-linear phase modulation which occurs in Wave length Division Multiplexing (WDM) channel system. When light ray propagates through an optical fiber, spectral broadening is occurred due to the XPM effect. In this paper, we see the effect of spectral broadening due to the XPM and using this effect we compensate the SBS effect. From our the numerical simulation result, we have found that the improvement of broadening factor are 21.21 MHz, 23.68 MHz and 25.15 MHz respectively for number of two, three and for channels due to XPM effect.
