  • Abstract
Hydro energy is one of the most significant sources of energy of Bangladesh. Kaptai hydro electric power plant is the only major power plant using water as source of electricity production. During the flood or heavy rainfall, a huge amount of water is wasted without production of electricity because water level of Kaptai dam crosses maximum limit which is known as overflow. This paper aims at using this water to produce electricity instead of just wasting it using existing generators. Calculations have been done for reducing water level at Kaptai dam during flood or heavy rainfall so that overflow doesn´t occur. This paper is proposing a new routine for the amount of used turbine discharge water in different months considering the net head of water. As a result, overall electricity production will increase. The output of the calculations on water level is also shown in the graphs.
