Abstract :
Over the last few decades, the emerging ultra wide-band (UWB) impulse technology has found different applications in the commercial as well as in the military sectors. Some of the applications of impulse technology are impulse radar and impulse radio. One of the challenges of detection of a UHF band impulse signal is the environmental-interferences. Ubiquitous health monitoring system, such as body area network, may also be impaired by the environmental noises and interferences. Band-selective smart antenna with gain enhancement capability and a strong signal processing system is needed in such areas. Wavelet Packet Transform (WPT) based multi-resolution analysis technique with band-selective smart antenna is a good candidate for wireless detection of signals those are impulse in nature. In this paper a new and better method of denoising and detection technique which is based on calculation of energies of the coefficients of each WPT terminal-node is described.
