Abstract :
Several approaches for legacy software assets migration and integration towards modern enterprise paradigm like Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) have been proposed to facilitate this change. However, SOA migration process includes several difficulties in identifying candidate services, and also in applying efficiently automation architectural patterns and mechanisms to discover the proper business logic in the legacy code to better align with the enterprise business goals that consider high level of organizational priorities and quality requirements. In this paper an approach is proposed as an attempt to adopt common reference architectural patterns of integrated business services and orchestration controls for participation and alignment of legacy applications in the enterprise business processes. As a case study, the paper describes the exposure and the integration of a prototype of legacy plant asset management system with legacy financial system for participation in and benefits from the service-oriented architecture. Measurement intentions of migration maturity are introduced and discussed.
