Abstract
This paper described the design and implementation of a bipolar capacitor charger. The system was composed of a positive voltage charger and a negative voltage charger. They were controlled by the same software. The output power is 4kW with a maximum output voltage of ±100kV. The charging system had the ability to withstand short circuit and the smaller difference between the positive and negative voltage which was less than 2%. The high frequency series resonant technology and the pulse width modulation technology were adopted, and the DSP was chosen to ensure the precision of the output voltage. The power system was used for the aging test of bipolar high-voltage switch and could be operated at a repetition rate of 0.1Hz.
