Abstract
In this paper, a simple load current feed-forward control method to enhance the load transient response is proposed. Different from the conventional load current feed-forward control method, the proposed method calculates load current variation from the output voltage rather than directly measuring load current which requires a current sensor, such as a Hall-effect sensor. The proposed method requires only an op-amp, signal level resistors and capacitors. The performance of the proposed method is verified experimentally with a 12 V input to 24 V output boost converter. The proposed method reduces output voltage overshoot during a load transient as effective as conventional load current sensed feed-forward control method.
