Abstract
The global energy market is in a phase of transition, and attention is increasingly focused towards renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. Professionals work in completely different environments today as compared to the time when they were educated. Expert knowhow on sustainable energy engineering is now more important than ever before. Here, we describe new educational avenues offered by the Photovoltaic Laboratory (PV-Lab) at Berne University of Applied Sciences (BUAS, www.pvtest.ch) in Switzerland. As a leading house in research, development and applications in photovoltaic, the PV Lab at BUAS has introduced a suite of new “short courses” in photovoltaic for worldwide professionals to re-gain the competences required for using the suns´ energy.
