Processing of lightning data in the territory of Albania

For the evaluation of lightning discharge activity in Albania, we have “Maps of thunderstorms days per year” and “Density maps of lightning discharge per year”, based on data from seven meteorological stations, with data measured during five years in the interval 1951-1960. Since this period there were no measurements. The measurement had many inaccuracies and does not answer all the territory of Albania. The installation of the lightning detector gave us the opportunity to obtain data for all territory of Albania with very high accuracy. The size of the map of the Republic of Albania and the placement in Tirana, in the center of the territory, enable the necessary data to the detector to be those with the radius of no more than 200km, which is within the acceptable accuracy of the detector. Detector data give us the opportunity to build the above maps with higher accuracy.
