Abstract :
Modern power systems, these days, is facing increased challenges such as increased energy demand, environment concerns etc., which cannot be met by the utility alone. Microgrid can meet these challenges to some extend, which uses renewable energy sources which are eco-friendly to reduce the environmental concerns. Smart and energy-efficient buildings, which is a recent trend in building industry minimizes energy consumption. The Energy Management System (EMS) in a commercial building aims to improve environment within the building to ensure customers´ comfort. The control system design for such a building is to minimise the power consumption without compromising the customer´s comfort. For the same, a multiagent control system is designed for energy and comfort management in the smart building. The energy management system, its control and the simulation results are presented in this paper.
