Abstract :
Professor Kensho Okamoto, who is one of the authors invented a novel amplifier consists of an infrared LED and a silicon photodiode excluding any transistor in 2010. He named this original amplifier “DISTAR”. Furthermore, he found that the distar turned to a thyristor when the input current to LED exceeded more than a certain value. He named this original switching device “DIRISTAR”. This paper introduces the characteristics of the DIRISTAR and phase control dimming circuit used the DIRISTAR.
