Abstract :
This paper proposes a comparative analysis for the optimal location of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) device for curtails the active power loss in radial distribution system using particle swarm optimization (PSO) and Differential Evolution (DE) techniques. In this proposed approach, Thyristor Controlled Series Compensator (TCSC) is used. The feasibility and effectiveness of the optimization methods proposed have been demonstrated on 69 bus radial distribution system consisting of 68 sections. MATLAB, Version 7.10 software is used for simulation.
