Abstract :
This paper presents a new approach of reactive power and voltage control for power system. Reactive power control plays a major role in operation and control of power system. The objectives of the proposed approach are the minimization of generation cost, the minimization of real power losses flowing in a power system and the voltage profile improvement. The proposed formulation employs Genetic Algorithm for proper settings of control variables to achieve the optimal solution. The effectiveness of the proposed approach has been examined and tested with standard IEEE 30 bus test system‥
