Abstract
This paper presents general source code optimization techniques to optimize software performance and energy in embedded systems. Source code optimizations can be categorized into three levels: algorithmic, source code-level. Then these techniques are applied to optimize our KVMF processing software, which is a message encoder-decoder for tactical communication equipped on weapon systems in Korean Army. The optimized software achieved performance increase of 11.4% at most and memory space decrease of 61% over the original software.
