Abstract
In this paper, we propose an optical access network architecture that integrates the wireless and wired services in a converged provision. Ultra wideband (UWB) technology offers new opportunities in communication area. Multi band orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MB-OFDM) based UWB signal was modelled by using VPItransmissionMaker for downstream transmission by investigating the error vector magnitude (EVMs) values. UWB over single mode fibre (SMF) is first examined and maximum limit are achieved at 105km. For the second part of the analysis, 19km dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) is deployed in order to achieve long haul transmission distances. A distance of 225km was realized with -19.33 dB EVM results after dispersion compensation technique applied at 100km.
