Abstract :
The feasibility of preamplifying a 100G DP-QPSK signal before coherent reception is investigated. A sensitivity improvement of 3 dB is found. Theoretically, there is another 5 dB of margin, and it is believed that several dBs can be gained through SOA optimization.
