Abstract
This paper describes the results of a case study concerning role of capacitive excitation on voltage profile of three phase self excited induction generator (SEIG). In this paper, an attempt is made to analyze how an induction machine can be made to get self-excitation and thus be used in any stand-alone application; especially for windmill application. The most appropriate capacitive VAR required for self excitation has been computed in Matlab/Simulink environment.
