Abstract
Friction stud welding is a proven solid state technology for joining of dissimilar metals. Heat is generated by friction between rotating component and a stationary component. During the welding process, metal adjacent to the weld joint experience severe thermal conditions. Consequently, complex changes occur in the metallurgical structure. Besides residual stress and distortion takes place in the component. In the present work an analytical model is developed to predict the temperature profile and heat transfer in the friction welded AA 6063/AISI 304 joint.
