Abstract :
This paper presents automatic load frequency control (ALFC) for a single control area system by considering different types of the prime-mover models. Performance of each prime mover model is analyzed with same system parameters. Thereafter effect of different parameter variations is checked and from that error patterns are developed for the frequency deviations. Comparison between accurate (higher order) models and approximate (lower order) model is done. This analysis will eliminate the approximation viz. taken in the modeling of speed governing system and higher accuracy in the analysis can be achieved. Hence correct assessment of stability for the system can be done. Simulation is done in MATLAB/SIMULINK. Effect of parameter variations is represented in graphical form.
