Abstract :
Voltage sag is one of major power quality issue to the industrial customers, which can be mitigated by voltage injection method using the custom power device Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). This paper proposes the simulation of DVR with pulse width modulation(PWM) based controller using Matlab/Simulink. The performance of the DVR depends on the efficiency of the control technique involved in switching the inverter and the DC energy storage system. The two control techniques used in this paper is Proportional-Integral Controller (PI) and Sliding Mode Controller (SMC) and the DC energy storage system is composed of DC link capacitor supported by Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) based Wind energy conversion system. The simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed system in voltage sag mitigation.
