  • Abstract
The paper addresses the separation of ice and rain contributions for crosspolar discrimination in Earth Satellite slant path Satellite-Earth propagation channel using single polarized crosspolar discrimination measurements. A brief introduction to the structure of the propagation medium is given first. The procedure and the associated difficulties are introduced. Simulated cases are first presented to validate the approach and expected difficulties with real data highlighted. Then the method is used in one full year of measured events at Ka-band and some preliminary statistical results are presented for one year of data.
